What makes our Dental Practice so special:

These are some of the reasons for joining our practice.

OUR PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY IS MINIMAL, NON-INVASIVE DENTAL TREATMENT.

We do not over treat teeth and periodontal (gum) tissue. We are not "cap (crown) happy." In many cases, a well placed composite filling will give many years of service without the need for a cap or crown. This will reduce the risk of needing a root canal because prepping the tooth for a crown or cap will often traumatize the pulp necessitating a root canal. After placing a large filling, a future crown my be placed when and if the timing is right and the nerve is stabilized. In dentistry, sometimes minimal treatment is the best treatment. This minimal approach is especially true in treating gum disease.

WE DO NOT OVER X-RAY OUR PATIENTS. WE UTILIZE DIGITAL X-RAYS.

We see no need to x-ray patients every six months that have a low decay rate, have good oral hygiene, and practice good diet and nutrition. We use digital x-rays as needed because they require less radiation. Patients with a high decay rate are monitored closely and are given the opportunity for nutritional counseling, protective varnish treatments, and extra special care.

WE ARE A “FEE FOR SERVICE” PRACTICE.

We do not necessarily accept insurance as full payment. If a pre-estimate is required by your insurance company, we will provide it. As a courtesy, we will submit your insurance claims. However, any balance incurred is the patient's responsibility and is paid at the end of treatment. We provide a full hour for dental cleanings. It is important to note that we do not have to over treat anyone because insurance companies do not dictate or mandate how we should run our practice. Dentists who accept full payment for services may be inclined to over treat patients and not give a full hour for adult cleaning appointments.

DR. KACHERSKI IS ALSO LICENSED IN NUTRITION AND ACUPUNCTURE IN NEW YORK STATE.

Dr. Kacherski is a holistically oriented dentist. He received his D.D.S. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.S. degree in Clinical Nutrition from Columbia Medical School. Dr. Kacherski is licensed in Clinical Nutrition and Acupuncture in New York State and integrates homeopathy, acupuncture and nutrition into his dental practice. He also maintains a separate practice in Clinical Nutrition. He received his acupuncture training from the International College of Acupuncture and Electro-Therapeutics in New York City. He has been a student of homeopathy for over 30 years. Homeopathy is both safe and effective with a long history of use throughout the world. Homeopathic medicines are regulated as drugs by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and are included in the U.S. Pharmacopea. Therefore, they are legal to use in America. This special knowledge separates our practice from other dental practices. Dr. Kacherski is also a member of the dental staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was recently awarded a certificate of merit by the New York State Dental Society for completing 1500 hours of continuing dental education.

Many dentists and physicians have no training in the relationship between teeth, the oral cavity, and systemic health. Many clinical problems in dentistry can be solved with a holistic approach rather than with prescription drugs, surgery, or root canals. The relationship between the mouth and general health is becoming more apparent especially in light of current research regarding dental infection and inflammation as additional risk factors for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other systemic and degenerative diseases like cognitive impairment.

WE DO NOT USE TOXIC DENTAL MATERIALS.

We never use mercury or other toxic dental metals in our restorations. Sweden, Norway and Japan have restricted the use of mercury in dental fillings. Research has proven that mercury can leak out of fillings into saliva and form methylmercury. Methylmercury is a form of mercury that can be harmful to the developing brains of unborn babies and young children, affecting cognitive, sensory and motor functions. The FDA and EPA have advised pregnant women to restrict the consumption of fish that might contain high levels of mercury (shark, swordfish, tile fish, and king mackerel). When we remove amalgam fillings (mercury fillings), we use a rubber dam to isolate the mercury as it is being removed from the mouth. Amalgam fillings can contain as much as fifty percent mercury. We pre and post prep our patients as needed with supplements. We also limit the use of dissimilar metals to reduce the electrochemical interaction in the oral cavity.

WE ARE AWARE OF TEETH TO BODY RELATIONSHIPS.

There are many conditions in the mouth that can impact the relationship between teeth and the body. Teeth do not just help us chew. They also support our face and lips, assist in speech and give us attractive smiles. All of the traditional and non-traditional acupuncture/energetic meridians or energetic pathways of the entire body pass through the oral cavity or mouth. Below is a list of blockages or disturbance fields in the mouth that can upset the flow of energy to all parts of the body and potentially affect general medical health:

  • Tooth decay and acute or chronic abscessed teeth
  • Periodontal/gum disease
  • Traumatic occlusion/bite relationships
  • Residual jaw infections or cavitations
  • Failed root canals or non-vital dead teeth
  • Toxic or bio-incompatible dental materials
  • Electro-galvanic disturbance fields
  • Accidents and trauma to teeth and supporting structures
